Are you experiencing anxiety, stress, panic attacks, nervous system in over drive, have IBS symptoms, feel low/depressed, have low self esteem/confidence, and as a result experience personal, family or work relationship difficulties?  I am an experienced, kind and understanding Counsellor who specialises in these areas, practicing in lovely surroundings in central Exeter, in person, by video link or phone.

I bring a depth and understanding from my own personal experiences and counselling journey, my counselling training and subsequent private practice over the last 6 years and previously having worked in the Police service for 25 years.   I am also a parent of two children, a wife, divorcee and someone who has experienced my own struggles with mental health.  It doesn't matter who we are, what we do or what jobs/roles we have, we all need counselling at some points in our lives. Working together, being heard and valued, can help to overcome the difficulties you are experiencing and make profound changes to your life.  I am here to support you to make those changes.

I am an Integrative Counsellor, meaning that I have studied and trained using a range of theories including Person Centred, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis (T.A.).  I also use Mindfulness and a range of creative techniques to help you work through deeply hidden and often painful memories.  Experiences or traumatic events past or present can build up over time, often from childhood, which may have been buried deeply within us and we have struggled on.  This can result in a layering of more and more problems, leading to unhealthy life choices affecting all aspects of our lives.

There are many shared behaviours and symptoms, which affect us all, and it is helpful to acknowledge that we are not alone in our struggles, although it can often feel that way.   In contrast to this, we are all unique individuals and our experiences in life, even if similar to others, will affect us all differently.

I work in a deeply compassionate way, drawing from a range of theories and techniques to suit your individuality and the experiences you have been through.

I provide an Experienced, Understanding, Kind, Professional and

Non judgemental relationship.  I want you to feel safe and secure, to be able to let go of feelings of shame or fear, enabling you to explore the difficulties you are struggling with.

We will work together to heal past wounds and unmet needs, often from childhood, which may hinder you in relationships and the roles you have, often leading to a sense of inadequacy or 'imposter syndrome'.  We will explore appropriate coping strategies to change unhealthy thought patterns, enabling you to lead a happier and more fulfilled life, where you can begin to value and believe in yourself and make better life choices.

I know from my own experiences and from that of my clients that this process is life changing.

         SUPERVISION

My Supervison work is an extension of who I am as a Counsellor.  I am passionate about Supervision and feel that aside from it being a requirement of our Counselling practice, it is so much more.  It is a nourishing and valuable space for collaboration, learning, development, reflection, growth, reassurance and confidence building, enabling us to offer all we can to our practice and clients whilst ensuring we nurture our wellbeing as human beings and practitioners.

I obtained my NCPS Advanced Specialist Diploma in Supervision at Devon Counselling College in Newton Abbot.  I draw from a range of theories, my own counselling practice and training, experiences in my previous career and continued learning and development.  I work in a range of ways to help you explore your own work, both from talking and also working creatively.

I am an Integrative Counsellor working with adults and supervise any Counsellor working in a similar field of work and at any stage in their Counselling journey.  I offer sessions face to face in Exeter and by video link.

My fees are £70 for an hour and a half session or £50 an hour, I also have a reduced rate for students and  Counsellors who are new in practice with limited client numbers at £60 for an hour and a half session or £40 an hour.

Where I Practice

I practice in a lovely building in Southernhay, central Exeter, on the third floor of 5 Barnfield Crescent on Barnfield Road.  My practice room is a comfortable and safe room in an old characteristic building where the are a number of other businesses.  It is in a historic area close to the Princesshay shopping centre and High Street with plenty of cafes nearby, whilst being in a quiet and private crescent.

I practice in Exeter on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays either face to face, by video link or phone.  I also practice on Wednesdays presently by video link or phone call only.
